The Prairie Moon Quilts Studio
Here's what you see on the painted wood floor when you enter.
Here's looking south toward the main door. I've got shelves all along the west wall, loaded with all my UFOs, books, magazines, and my "organized scraps". My stuffed beagle collection lives there, and my big huge jar of antique buttons is acting as a bookend. I may do some more rearranging yet. Since it's all new, I'm still deciding on the most convenient spots for things. The shipping area is in that back corner.

Here's the same wall looking from the other direction. You can see a bit of my design wall on the north end. I don't have my quilting frame moved in yet, but soon -- you can see the high shelf for batting storage above where the quilting frame will go. I did get the pegboard on the ends of my island, and that's very handy.

I've got some new pictures coming soon. I just got my longarm machine set up in the north end, and I've also made some other progress on getting organized. It's always changing . . .

Here's a couple other angles. As you can see, I still have my small design wall to get mounted on the east side, and I haven't hung up my curtains yet because I haven't decided what kind of curtain rods to buy. My main fabric storage is in the tubs inside the island. It's so handy there! The "office" is in that back corner by the door, and across from it on the west wall is the shipping area. You can barely see the longhorn draftstopper in front of the door. That's one of the bonus projects from the Prairie Moon Ranch Block-of-the-Month! There's parts of others scattered around the studio -- can you guess which ones they are? And how do you like my floor? That was quite a project, but worth every second it took -- I really like how it turned out. Sure looks a lot different than in the under construction photos below, doesn't it?

The New Prairie Moon Quilts Studio (under construction pictures)

November, 2008
Here's looking from the south door toward the north. The unpainted spots on the walls are where my design walls will be mounted. The door on the left goes into the house. The north end is where my quilting frame will go. My sewing area will be on the right side from the window all down that wall. That big thing out in the middle is a movable island. It's on wheels so I can relocate it if I wish. It's where I'll do all my cutting, etc. The ends are bare because I'll be mounting pegboard there to hang stuff on.

Here's looking from the north toward the south. And no, it's not your imagination -- the ceiling is higher on the west side than on the east side. I wanted a low ceiling to help with heat retention and lighting, and it just worked out better for the rest of the farm shack for it to end up a bit slanted. The wall down the right-hand side will be all shelves clear down to the cabinet in the corner that is the order prep area. The back left corner across from the cabinet is the office area.

So that's it for now -- just a big empty room at the moment. I'll post some more pictures when I get all moved in.
