Welcome to Prairie Moon Quilts . . . I’m so glad you found me.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a quilter! I’ve been quilting for fun my whole life, but then things got serious: I’ve been a pattern designer since 1996, started my business in 1999, added longarm quilting services to the lineup in 2009, then wrote a couple quilting books.
My business gets its name from our little ranch, Prairie Moon Ranch, in rural Missouri, where I live with My Cowboy, a herd of goats and sheep, some horses, and way too many dogs and cats. We used to raise cattle, but we’ve been trying to downsize our way into retirement, so now we refer to our little corner of the world as “Prairie Moon Ranch for the Aged and Infirm” (snicker).
What to Expect
I’m here on Substack to inspire other quilters in their quilting adventures.
I’ve got quilting projects to share with you. I’ve got “life on the ranch” stories to tell. Sometimes I’ll share a recipe. My gracious customers even allow me to show off their creations that I’m quilting for them. And I’ll sometimes talk about the business part of quilting for hire. And the animals around here never cease to entertain.
I’m usually struggling to get my studio organized, which is an ongoing battle, so I’m gonna tell you what I’m working on and you can join me on Studio Organizing Challenges if you’re facing the same issues in your sewing space.
I’m also a first-class procrastinator, so I make up all sorts of games to get myself to do what I’m supposed to, so I’ll share some of those, too, just in case you’re like me and need the occasional kick in the pants.
If you need a professional quilter to add the finishing touches to your quilt top, that’s what I do, so check out my pricing and schedule HERE.
Whenever I introduce any new quilt patterns or fun programs, you’ll be the first to know right here, and I have several in the pipeline, so . . .
When to Expect It
I’m gonna try to post at least once a week. If something exciting is brewing in between, you might hear from me more often, or less often if I’m feelin’ plumb lazy. If there’s any quilting topic in particular you’d like me to post about, give me a holler, and I’ll see what I can do!
It gets real around here, and I’m not afraid to say it. My studio is not picture perfect, I’m better friends with my seam ripper than I want to be, my rotary cutter blade needs changing right now, my cutting table is a disaster, and I kill an iron every six months or so. But I’m in here having fun every day!
So if you quilt just for fun, or you’re trying to make a business of it, there’s a little something for everyone here!
If you’re interested in my patterns, you can find them all here in . . .
Why subscribe?
Well, because it’s free, and you can get all the latest News From the Ranch (and Studio), of course. You wouldn’t wanna miss out on any cute goat pictures, would you? We’re gonna do some really fun stuff together.
So if you’re a quilter who loves goats (and cats, and dogs) . . .
