I have already sorted out several books to take to the quilting group for Thursday week session! I found a Project Linus UFO now waiting for quilting. I have the backing for it. I seem to have a few waiting to be quilted, but was desperate to play with scraps. I have been sorting out the fabric and shelves and made some gaps. Those are now ready for my mum's bits and bobs that my brother and I have been sorting through as she's now in a care home - end game dementia - and can't have all her stuff with her, although she has a few items from home. We had to be brutal and not sentimental about a lot of things though. Her house will have to be sold to fund her care, sadly. We did laugh at some things as we went down memory lane! Thankfully she knits and doesn't sew, so I won't be adding any more sewing machines or fabric to the collection! I also separated some of my fabric for Project Linus as they are short on boy's themed quilts, so ready to play there.

It’s a job, and I don’t envy you that. We always seem to be short on boy-themed quilts in our comfort stash — it’s so much easier to make floral quilts for some reason!

I hope that I can get a project done; I have a Project Linus quilt waiting for the binding. I hope to get that done. I simply cannot imagine what you are going through. Big hugs to you.

Thank you, dear friend. I know you’re busy gardening and canning, but hopefully, you can get a binding done.

You had a thread merger....

I am choosing three. to finish something that is close to done. When we had our UFO reveal(at our quilt chapter) I had completed ALL THREE of the ones I choose. I didn't win the 50 bucks but some of those ufos were almost teenagers.

In a game like that, even if you don’t win the money, you’re still a winner! Getting projects done is always a win. And yes, I definitely had a thread merger. I was starting to wonder if I’d have space for all of it!

I’ll be choosing to finish a UFO. I just put together a backing for a top that is from the early 2000’s ? that is king sized. Hope to get it on the longarm and quilted and its sister throw made from the leftover fabrics. All Robyn Pandolph prints in cottage colors. I still love the fabrics but not really my style these days.

I’m so sorry to hear about your sisters sudden passing. Sending you love and prayers to navigate this difficult time in your life.

Thank you so much. I still love Robyn Pandolph prints (and patterns)! I’m sure that quilt is lovely.

I will challenge myself to finish a quilt by putting the binding on it. I have 5 quilted ones that need binding and labels.

That’s a good challenge. I seem to get stuck at the binding stage sometimes!

My threads are organized. That is one thing that has always been organized for me. I went through my books several years ago and they are not in too bad a shape. So, like you, I need to finish some started projects. And I have fabric for 2 new ones I want to get started!

I’m trying so hard to NOT start anything new until I’ve finished a few more. It’s painful!

I am real sorry to hear about your sister. I know what you're going through. I had a brother that was born in the same year as myself. We were raised almost like twins. He was 53 when we lost him in a horrible accident.

As for the challenge, I probably won't get anything accomplished. Home repairs start tomorrow. They said they will start at one end of the house and sweep to the other. I have asked them to start in my sewing studio. I have taken the cutting table down, moved all of the furniture to one end and removed as many tubs and boxes that I could. The books, although in a box now, are alphabetized and listed in a spreadsheet. Threads are all separated (quilting, piecing and embroidery). And last week I completed two quick to finish tops that were purchased incomplete at an estate sale. I will look forward to the next challenge.

Well, it sounds like you’re very organized and ready! I hope it goes smoothly. (53 is way too young, too)

I did a big purge of my books and threads earlier this year, so I can check those off my organizing list. I went through my patterns last month and sort of reorganized/purged them. I need to finish that! I also need to look at the magazines I’ve collected that have Post-It notes on pages of interest. They may not be of interest anymore!!! I plan to finish my pattern/magazine review AND finish a UFO. I have a few projects that shouldn’t be too time consuming to complete. I’m headed to a retreat next month and will focus on one UFO. It’s a sampler with a variety of blocks. I have some of the blocks cut out and ready to sew, but many more to go!

Samplers are fun. No time to get bored! You sound so organized.

Going to finish a ufo that is close to being finished and possibly try for two. We have a brown bag raffle in July, so will also go through my things and see what I can donate for others to add to their piles.

That’s a great idea! I’m filling a box for a friend, and a box for guild as I go through my stuff. We have a silent auction every fall, so hopefully some of it can make a little money for our community service efforts.
